Newspaper - Kornhauser Family
This file contains two items: 1/A printout of an article from the website of the Sydney Morning Herald, dated 18/09/2013 (albeit accessed on 28/01/2014), pertaining to the legal efforts on the part of Nicole and Eliezer Kornhauser to secure the rights to operate an (unnamed) Orthodox Jewish school out of their home at 8 Springfield Avenue, St. Kilda East. The Glen Eira City Council denied their application owing to complaints from neighbours pertaining to noise and traffic congestion associated with the facility. The decision was subsequently upheld by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Thus, the Kornhausers have now taken their case to the Supreme Court. 2/A clipping of a newspaper article from The Age, dated 12/01/2014, pertaining to a conflict between Nicole and Eliezer Kornhauser and their neighbours. Said parties were already at odds with another, owing to the neighbours requesting that the Glen Eira City Council deny the Kornhausers permission to extend their facility owing to the aforementioned issues of noise and traffic congestion. But matters came to a head when the couple issued unsolicited death threats to local resident Jannine Gross and her husband – especially in the light of the Council electing to permit the extension after all. There is a discrepancy between the first and second items. The first item implies that the Kornhausers seek permission merely to operate their facility, whereas the second item implies that they seek permission to extend it.kornhauser family, kornhauser eliezer, kornhauser eric, kornhauser nicole, schools, religious structures and establishments, jewish community, legal events and activities, court procedures, vedelago chris, victorian civil and administrative tribunal (vcat), martin philip, springfield avenue, st. kilda east, mansions, merkos women program, resident action, gross jannine, pilling neil -

Book, St Martins Press et al, A force more powerful : a century of nonviolent conflict, 2000
A Force More Powerful depicts how nonviolent sanctions - such as noncooperation, strikes, boycotts, and civil disobedience - can separate brutal regimes from their means of control. It reveals the inside stories of how ordinary people took extraordinary action to end oppression - including the Danes' valiant resistance to the Nazis, Solidarity's defeat of Polish communism, and civic action in Chile to remove a military dictator - and how nonviolent power continues to change the world today, from Burma to the Balkans.Index, notes, ill, maps, p.544.non-fictionA Force More Powerful depicts how nonviolent sanctions - such as noncooperation, strikes, boycotts, and civil disobedience - can separate brutal regimes from their means of control. Teak memorabilia taken from HMS Ship "Iron Duke", Admiral Jellicoe's flag ship, circa 1916
HMS Iron Duke was a dreadnought battleship of the Royal Navy, the lead ship of her class, named in honour of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. She was built by Portsmouth Dockyard, and her keel laid in January 1912. Launched ten months later, she was commissioned into the Home Fleet in March 1914 as the fleet flagship. She was armed with a main battery of ten 13.5-inch (340 mm) guns and was capable of a top speed of 21.25 knots (39.36 km/h; 24.45 mph). Iron Duke served as the flagship of the Grand Fleet during the First World War, including at the Battle of Jutland. There, she inflicted significant damage on the German battleship SMS König early in the main fleet action. In January 1917, she was relieved as fleet flagship. After the war, Iron Duke operated in the Mediterranean as the flagship of the Mediterranean Fleet. She participated in both the Allied intervention in the Russian Civil War in the Black Sea and the Greco-Turkish War. She also assisted in the evacuation of refugees from Smyrna. In 1926, she was assigned to the Atlantic Fleet, where she served as a training ship.WW1 HMS Iron Duke in the Battle of Jutland 1916. a Piece of wood (teak) taken from the ship HMS Iron Duke Admiral Jellicoe's flag ship, in 1916 (Jutland).
