Tatura Irrigation & Wartime Camps MuseumPhotographs, Alexander Stewart who lived at Gowrie Park
GOWRIE PARK- Gowrie Park Road, Tatura.|Alexander and Georgina Stewart sailed in 1859 from Mochrum, Scotland, arriving in Corio Bay. In 1872-73 they came to Tatura and selected near the town, being one of the early selectors. The place was called Gowrie Park, still known by that name, and still in use as a dairy farm.|Before the Presbyterian Church was built in Tatura, all the services were held at Gowrie Park. The old dairy for keeping milk, cream and butter is still there today. Only two families have owned the property since the 1870®s, and the house has been beautifully renovated and extended.Photo 1: 15 x 11 cms. Photo 2: 10 x 6 cms. -

This is a photograph showing the P.S. Alexander Arbuthnot about to be removed from the water to be transported to Shepparton for restoration. The Alexander Arbuthnot was pulled off the bottom of the river at Yielma in July 1972 and taken to Shepparton via Barmah in January 1973.This photograph is significant as it shows the P.S Alexander Arbuthnot about to come out of the river, to be fully restored.A black and white photograph 13 cms X 9 cms of the P.S Alexander Arbuthnot under the Barmah Bridge, prior to being taken out of the river and taken to Shepparton.Written on the back of the photo are the following words. Textiles. With the same lace edging as the pillow cases 11408.102, but no embroidered initial.These pillow cases, along with the bed-spread(11408.101) complete a delightful set. Measuring 119 cm x 96 cms, the pillow slips have an envelope 48 cms x 80 cms stitched to the back, to hold the pillow. This is tied with three sets of two cotton tapes. Graham Wise was born on 13 October 1942. He attended Ballarat Junior Technical School and became the 1959 Ballarat Junior Technical School Open Athletics Champion. He was often listed as best afield for the Ballarat Junior Technical School Football Team. From 1963-1966 he played for Melbourne within the Victorian Football League - VFL, (now the Australian Football League). During his time with Melbourne he played 40 games, ruck position and wore guernsey number 23. He was part of the Premiership team in 1964. White cotton nurse's apron. Bodiec joins a 5 cm wide band and 60 cms long skirt. Skirt is plain in the front, with gathers at the back. Front of the bodice extends in wide 8 cms wide straps, which cross over at the back, and fasten with a button and buttonhole to the back waistband. The skirt of the apron extends right around the body, and overlaps, and fastens with two buttons and buttonholes 14 cms overlap.
