There are two windows in the church dedicated to Clara and her husband George Edgar Godlip Yung. This collection of items belonged to Emma Eliza Jane Watson's (bPhillips) son and daughter-in-law, John Richard and Edith Emma Watson (b Yung). Emma married Thomas William Watson at St Paul's Anglican Church , 11/11/1865.They lived in Sebastapol, Ballarat North and lastly at "Gracedale" Yendon - a small farm. They had 10 children and also brought up three grandhildren. .7 Emma Eliza Jane Phillips was born on 25th April 1844 in Barrabool (Geelong), the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Anne Phillips (b Goodenough). Sometime in the 1850"s after the death of Richard and the breakup of her marriage to Anthony Beck, Elizabeth moves to Ballarat with her children. The eldest boy Richard William Phillips would have been in his late teens. Elizabeth died on 4th August 1858 (aged 42?) before any of her children married. Alice Watson completed a course of work at the Ballarat Technical Art School, a division of the Ballarat School of Mines. Her complete folio is held by Federation University Australia. Nine works were undertaken at the Ballarat Technical Art School by Edith Alice (Alice) Watson. Seven pencil sketches on paper. The Album was compiled by Nancy McHaffie late 1990's, with the assistance of Edith Jeffery's, with her book "Garden of Memories" and extensive knowledge of Phillip Island. The Cemetery lies back from the road and is surrounded by Manna Gums, rare Peppermint Gums, Blackwoods and other native trees. In all 25 acres of land were set aside as Crown Land in the land settlement of 1868. There are 6.2 acres of wetlands near the cemetery entrance.466-36: Jessie Watson was a daughter of the McGregor family who came to the Island in the very early days. Their selection was one of the most exposed areas on the Island. Jessie was married for a brief period and continued, with her brother Charlie, to work the family farm. Jessie was a hard worker and died in 1963 aged 98. The Plaque on her grave was donated by the Phillip island & District Historical Society. 466-37: Malcolm Sutherland. Malcolm died age 8 years while on a holiday on Phillip Island. His father was Dr. Alexander Sutherland who conducted his own school "Carlton College" Melbourne. Dr Sutherland was also appointed to the Melbourne Public Library committee for the papers taken to England by Governor La Trobe in May 1894. The Ballarat Technical Art School boasted a well-stocked Antique Room replete with plaster copies of classical, Renaissance and Gothic sculptural examples, which were used as drawing props by students. The school inherited some casts from its predecessor institutions, and further consignments were purchased during the 1920s, including full length, bust and relief figures, as well as dozens of ornamental and architectural casts. Unfortunately, much of the collection was lost or destroyed in the late 1950s. This is one of the few surviving pieces. The foot came into the school’s collection prior to 1920 as it appears in a photo in the SMB Annual Report. There are two possibilities where these sculptures may have originated, either Victorian and Albert Museum or the British Museum. There is a reference to the purchase of plaster casts from the Victoria and Albert Museum in the 1918 School of Mines Ballarat Minute Book. This plaster cast of a foot is of local significance as only one of a few remaining teaching pieces from the substantial collection of sculptures used in the art school. The foot also has significance as an interpretive tool complementing the complete art folio of Edith Alice Watson who was a student from 1930-1933.Plaster cast of right foot including ankle.
