This Mathematics learning aid was made in Australia by the Cuisenaire Company of Australia under licence . These wooden number rods were invented by Belgium school teacher Georges Cuisenaire, who wrote a book about them in 1952 (Les Nombres en couleurs). In 1972 when the uniforms changed from traditional to more modern trend they created interest for prospective trainee nurses.
