Candle Holder, 1930s
This is a china candle holder which is a souvenir of Warrnambool with an image on the item of the Warrnambool War Memorial. Czechoslovakia was established as a country in 1918 and began to export china goods in the 1920s and 30s when the label ‘Victoria China’ became well known. The Warrnambool War Memorial at the southern end of Liebig Street was unveiled and dedicated in 1926. It was designed by John King, the Headmaster of the Warrnambool Technical School and erected by the local stonemasons, Wooles and Carpenter. This candle holder is of some interest as an example of the tourist souvenirs that were popular in Warrnambool pre-World War Two. This is a china candle holder with a circular base in brown-orange and white tonings and a fluted edge. The candle holding section is also circular with the same colour tonings and a slightly fluted edge. Inside this are the hardened remains of a candle. The base has a handle attached. Frederick Perkin Stevens was a prominent in business and community matters. He also presented the peal of three German bells in 1881 as a memorial to his and Jane’s son.. These windows are among the earliest stained glass windows in Christ Church and because of their position make a strong visual impact in the church. Further, Frederick later married Emma Bews, sister-in-law of the Reverend Peter Tuelen Beamish, first Vicar of the Parish of Warrnambool (for a period of 45 years 1850-1895,), thus consolidating his association with the church. Memorial window: Rev Andrew PEACOCK, "I will make you fishers of men"
Stained glass window, south wall, main nave (adjacent to the pulpit). The window is a pictorial representation of St Andrew who live to old age. Another symbol of association with St Andrew is the fishing net.The Rev. Andrew Peacock, Archdeacon of the Otways, was the fourth Vicar (1906-1912) of the Parish of Warrnambool. He was highly regarded throughout the community and died following a very short illness. His brother, Sir Alexander Peacock, three times premier of Victoria, officially unveiled a tablet on the north-west corner of the Parish Hall complex on Saturday 25th April and attended the dedication of the memorial window on Sunday 26th April 1913. Album - Album, photograph Warrnambool Horn Esq
This album contains photographs of a family, (the Horns of ‘Wildwood’, Warrnambool) and other photographs of Warrnambool – the foreshore, the Soldiers’ Memorial, the Breakwater, the Hopkins River, Liebig and Timor Streets etc. It has been made by a member of the Horn family and given as a Christmas present to other members of the family. Charles James Horn came to Australia in 1881and was a tutor to the Barber family of ‘Staywood Park’, Wangoom. He and his wife Emma then worked a property at Cudgee before settling in Warrnambool at ‘Wildwood’ in North Warrnambool. One of their sons, Charles Bernard Horn married Margaret Cairns in 1916 but died in 1927. Another son, Leslie, was killed in World War One. This little album is of great interest because it contains photographs of the Horn family and other photographs of views in Warrnambool. It is therefore of considerable historical interest and will be very useful to researchers. As it is a handmade item it is also of interest because it is an example of the sort of homemade items made as presents at a time (the late 1920s) when finances for something more expensive may not have been available. These are two items which are believed to be linked. One is an envelope marked ‘C.J. Horn, Wildwood, Warrnambool’ and the other is a blue-covered homemade album of photographs bound with red wool. The front cover has ‘Warrnambool’ written in red ink and the back of the front cover is stamped ‘Ralph Barnes, Chemist, Warrnambool’. There are 22 sepia-coloured photographs of a family (the Horns) and other views of Warrnambool. All have a label on the back. The back page of the cover has an advertisement for ‘Seltona’ self-toning paper.‘Warrnambool’ ‘7 sheets glossy Seltona’ collodion self-toning paper containing gold, Sole Manufacturers, Wellington and Ward, Elstree, Herts.’ ‘From us both to you both, Wishing you a Happy Christmas and a Glad New Year’. warrnambool, horn family, charles james horn, staywood park, wildwood warrnambool -

Pennant, St John's Bowles Club, Second half of 20th century
These pennants have all been awarded to the premier bowls team in the Warrnambool district. The Warrnambool District Bowls Association includes the bowls clubs of Dennington, Koroit, Terang, Port Fairy, Timboon, Warrnambool, Lawn Tennis and City Memorial. As the pennants have come from the now-defunct St. John’s Bowls Club of Warrnambool it is presumed that the St. John’s Club was the recipient of the pennants. St. John’s Club ceased to operate in 2013. It was associated with St. John’s Presbyterian Church and was situated in Princess Street. These pennants are of some interest as being mementoes of St. John’s Bowls Club, Warrnambool. This club was a prominent sporting club in Warrnambool for over 80 years. Bowls is a popular sport in Warrnambool. These are 13 triangular-shaped pennants. They are multi-coloured and made of felt cloth. Some are yellow and green, some are dark blue and white, some are yellow and blue and some are yellow and white. They are all pennants awarded for the premier teams in local Warrnambool bowls clubs, ranging in date from 1959 to 1981. The lettering has been glued on and all have cloth tabs at the base of the triangle for attachment to pegs or a pole. They are mostly in good condition though a couple are rubbed and worn.
