This album is possibly a collection printed from newspaper files. It has a wide variety of local scenes from haymaking, sports, social functions, beach scenes. Some names have been written in greylead, identifying some of the people in the photos and others are recognizable backgrounds such as the Peterborough Golf ClubWhile these images are not of true photographic quality, they do provide images of local scenes and activities which were relevant to the area in the mid 20th century. Some such as lifesaving carnivals, bike riding and golf continue to this day, others showing the hand raking of hay are long gone.Green card cover with red binding. The aerial view of Sunbury was featured in The Argus newspaper in 1936 in recognition of 100 years of European settlement of the area. It shows the extent of the township in 1936 which extended from the railway line in the west to the Jackson Creek in the east and the Sunbury Asylum in the south and northwards towards Macedon Street. The photograph was taken when Sunbury was a country settlement 25 miles ( 37 kms) from Melbourne. Photograph is of a newspaper cutting of photograph and caption. It shows a W or W2 class tram in Acland St, St Kilda passing the single level brick frontage of the disused cable car shed. The closed main entry doors carry a large sign about its future sale. Apart from the closure of a short section of track in northern Swanston St in 1924, the St Kilda Beach to Windsor and to the city line was the first full cable line to be closed in 1925. It reopened as an electric line in December 1925.Yields information about the closure of the St Kilda Esplanade cable line. The dam was built by the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission of Victoria. The dam wall height is 45 metres (148 ft) and the main embankment is 1,041 metres (3,415 ft) long. At 100% capacity the dam wall was designed to hold back 304,651 megalitres (6.7014×1010 imp gal; 8.0480×1010 US gal) of water. The surface area of Lake Eppalock is 3,011 hectares (7,440 acres) and the catchment area is 2,124 square kilometres (820 sq mi). The controlled spillway is capable of discharging 8,040 cubic metres per second (284,000 cu ft/s). Lake Eppalock supplies both stock and domestic water to the Campaspe irrigation district. It also serves as a water supply to Bendigo and Heathcote and, in more recent times, Ballarat. The lake is a major attraction for those engaging in watersports, with a number of tourist parks and accommodation facilities available. Permissible activities on the lake include high-speed boating, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, fishing and swimming. The lake's water levels were low for approximately eight years between 2002 and 2010 during a prolonged drought, which restricted the amount of recreational activity until rainfall in the latter half of 2010 returned the lake to 100 percent capacity. Nathaniel Breakey McKay (1859–1924) was Hugh Victor McKay’s older brother. After the death of Nathaniel and his wife Emma, their son Victor "Vic" Rex McKay lived in the house. The St Albans Squash Centre was built during the major boom period of squash in Australia of the 1970's. After the decline of the sport in the 1990's and 2000's, many of these local community squash courts closed and the buildings were repurposed for other uses. The St. Albans Squash Centre building is now the Panjtan Centre. These former squash center buildings serve as a reminder of a time when the sport experienced significant growth, only to face a rapid decline.
