Significance

Emerald was serviced by a library bus which visited the town weekly. Residents who wanted an actual library in the town got together in 2003, collected signatures on a petition and lobbied intensively. They were ultimately successful, and a new library was built on ground adjoining the then Emerald Mechanics Institute. This was opened in July 2017.

The Emerald community had to convince the Shire that the town had outgrown its Library Community Bus and needed an actual Library. This album presents that story' from 2003 until the opening of the newly built Library on 5 July 2006.
