Reina Jansson later married Bill West. WWI history.Two hand written letters. One from Bob White to Reina West nee Jansson, written in France 14/1/1918. Also envelope from Field Post Office, dated January 18, 1918. Passed by Censor No. 4577. Second letter a bit unclear who it is from and also who to although looks like "Roheina". Writing is different from 1st letter so doesn't seem to be from Bob White. On 28th March 1801, Lieut. James Grant sailed across from Rhyll, landed and inspected Churchill Island. His men cleared some ground and planted seeds including Victoria's first crop of wheat. Charlie Richardson was the son of William Richardson and grandson of Joseph Richardson who arrived on Phillip Island in 1868. Mr Charlie Richardson was for many years the Mate of the Rhyll-Stony point Ferry. Charlie Richardson was the son of William Richardson and grandson of Joseph Richardson who arrived on Phillip Island in 1868. The house was built by William Richardson who went to live at Rhyll in 1876. His father, Joseph, owned the land. Joseph had arrived on Phillip Island in 1868 when the first land sale took place. The home of Captain Loch at Rhyll was built in the 1860s from timber from deserted cottages on the Island, one of which Capt. "Heath Hill" was built by the McIlwraith brothers in 1872. The Chicory Kiln shown in the photograph is situated on land owned by the McIlwraith family in the 1870s. The house situated on CAI - 2 Rhyll was called Mot Pena. Probably built by William Richardson c1900 for John Squire (Jack) Underdown. This house is still standing and was recently carefully restored.
