These were taken by Campbell Duncan) The photograph shows Tram 39 and others at the Sturt Street holding depot. This was located in Sturt Street between Greville Street and Lydiard Street. This was where the trams waited to cater for the peak travel times. The numbers on the other trams cannot be identified. Following this action, no other tramcars that had been allocated at the time left Bendigo. ...Newspaper report on the issue of the disposal of former SEC Bendigo trams following the closure of the system. The Adelaide-based tramway museum (AETM) was allocated Birney No. 29 by the SEC and agreed to by the Minister for Fuel and Power Mr Balfour. When they tried to collect it, the loading was stopped, with the agreement of the City of Bendigo, quoting Mayor Cr J P Pearce. The newspaper gives the background to the issue of the retention by Bendigo of the former SEC fleet. Following this action, no other tramcars that had been allocated at the time left Bendigo. In 1975, the Government paid the Bendigo Trust to reconstruct a Birney that had been scrapped before the closure of the Bendigo system which was given to the AETM. The Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society acquired the tram in 1977. In 1995 this became the Ballarat Tramway Museum. tram 41 sec ...Photograph shows three trams in the SEC Depot shed. Numbers on two trams are identifiable but the third is not. The tram in the centre is Number 41. This was built in 1914 by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide. Originally in Geelong and came to Ballarat when their trams stopped running in 1956. When Ballarat trams stopped in 1971, Tram 41 went to Horsham City Council for the Wimmera River Improvement League. The tram converted and became a smokers' lounge within Olde Horsham Restaurant. Still operating today. Tram 11 is on the righthand side. It was built in 1915 by Meadowbank Manufacturing Company Sydney. It was first part of the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust fleet. It came to Ballarat in 1936 after being in Geelong. In 1971 the Ballarat trams stopped running and No.11 tram went to Daylesford and District Historical Museum. The Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society acquired the tram in 1977.
