Melbourne Water
Souvenir tea caddy spoon "Tea Time", Early 1960s
... Souvenir tea caddy spoon "Tea Time" ... reservoir, melbourne water, scenic view, souvenir, tea caddy spoon... Souvenir tea caddy spoon "Tea Time" Tea caddy spoon with clock face ...Melbourne Water inherited many of its water assets, such as reservoirs from its predecessor the Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works (MMBW). They have served the organisation well and have long been celebrated for both their natural beauty and engineering ingenuity. In the nineteenth century Victoria’s fundamental need for water infrastructure went beyond merely functional solutions and reflected the English ideal of the romance and beauty that was embodied in expanses of water. The MMBW further enhanced this notion by incorporating beauty and function in to the Classical and Italianate designs of its infrastructure such as pumping houses and reservoir outlet towers. The reservoir gardens and picnic areas were landscaped with ornamental stonework, exotic trees, decorative flower beds, fern glads pools and rose gardens. All features of the water supply system became widely celebrated as beauty spots that continue to be very popular to this day with tourists and locals alike. This souvenir is a product of that flourishing tourist trade. These water supply sites continue to enhance Melbourne’s charm and liveability and are now recognised as places of cultural and historic significance This souvenir item has been curated by Melbourne Water as it represents an important historical aspect of the organisation by demonstrating the popularity of its water asset sites as recreational places and tourist attractions, and although these sites are functional parts of the water supply system, they were also designed to be enjoyed by the public both aesthetically and recreationally. Memorabilia - Souvenir Spoon Rural City of Wodonga in case, C 1973 to 1994
... Souvenir Spoon Rural City of Wodonga in case... Experience, Hut 97 132 Bonegilla Road Bonegilla high-country Souvenir ...The current city was originally named Wodonga, but its name was changed to Belvoir then later back to Wodonga, its indigenous name. The original post office opened on June 1, 1856. Wodonga Shire was created in 1876 when the colonial government agreed to ratepayers' petitions to have their part severed from the Yackandandah Shire and form a new municipality. On 30th March 1973, the Wodonga Shire was granted rural city status and was officially named the Rural City of Wodonga by the Governor of Victoria, Sir Rohan Delacombe. The date this logo first came into use is unsure, but it was used prior to the granting of rural city status. In 1994, the name was retained in a new local government authority and so the Wodonga Rural City Council was born. In 1995 it was decided to give the city a fresh image, so the term 'rural' was be dropped from use except where there was a legal requirement. In December 2003, it was decided to rename the council removing the term "rural" and it is now legally Wodonga City Council. On 30th March 1973, the Wodonga Shire was granted rural city status and was officially named the Rural City of Wodonga by the Governor of Victoria, Sir Rohan Delacombe.
