" The availability of comprehensive and up-to-date military maps and charts ... is fundamental to the effective conduct of military operations." The Honourable K.C. Beazley, M.P. 1987 This article was presented as a paper to the 1990 Australian War Memorial History Conference to mark the 75th anniversary of the formation of the "Australian Survey Corps" on 1 July 1915. The Corps has since been renamed as the Royal Australian Survey Corps. Lieutenant-Colonel Clem Sargent, Colonel Commandant of the Corps from 1983 to 1993, accepted the challenge and published an account of the history of RA Svy on the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary. The Royal Australian Survey Corps, I9I5 - 1990 was first published in October 1990 in the journal of the Military Historical Society of Australia, Sabretache. The article was later published in the Australian Surveyor and is now reproduced as a booklet by kind permission of the author. This condensed history of the Royal Australian Survey Corps provides a record of military mapping in Australia and as such is a valuable part of Corps doctrine. Colonel S.W. The Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps (RAANC) provides health care and medical assistance to Australian Army personnel in military health facilities. The Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps embraces the values of compassion and service to others, reflecting the care and dedication provided to the wounded and sick. The Australian Army employs registered general nurses as nursing officers in Army hospitals and medical centres. These officers form the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps. The collar badge would have been worn on the collar of official uniform. This badge is in good condition and provides context and interests in nurse uniform. However, it is hard to guarantee that this is an original badge or a replica. Photograph of Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps collar badge. Oval shaped badge surmounted by St Edward's crown. Around the edge of the oval is embossed 'Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps'. In the centre of the oval is a Nightingale oil lamp on a dull cherry coloured felt background. Across the bottom is a scroll embossed with the Latin motto 'Pro Humanitate', translating to 'for humanity'. The metallic nature of the badge leaves it cool to the touch, with rounded edges and a round collar attachment peg, unlike the sharp attachment pegs like typical badges and pins. 'Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps'/ 'Pro Humanitate'[Latin translating to English as 'for humanity']. raanc, uniform, badge, royal australian army nursing corps

In 2000, three silver trophy spoons were donated to the Kew Historical Society by the National Trust (Victoria). At the time, the trophies were believed to have been awarded to J.S. Penrose for victories in events held by the Boroondara R.C. [Rifle Club] in 1905 and 1906. The Boroondara Rifle Club was a separate entity to the Kew and Hawthorn Rifle Clubs. The first reference to the Club on Trove is on 11 April 1900, when the Club was established and the committee elected. It is recorded that: “the adjourned meeting in connection with the Boroondara Rifle Club was held in the shire hall on Monday evening; Mr. A. J. Smith, J.P., in the chair. It was decided that the name of the club should be the Boroondara Rifle Club, and that it should embrace the whole shire, with butts at some convenient and accessible spot. A number of additional members were sworn in, making the total enrolled to date about 70. The following gentlemen were elected as office bearers: — President, Sir Frederick Sargood.
