Historical information

One of Phillip Islands earliest industries was chicory farming. The first kiln was constructed in 1870. The chicory devil, with its unique shape and design, was a tool specifically developed to dig out chicory roots. It was originally designed by Duncan McGregor. This chicory devil was handmade by Dinney Justice in the late 1800's.
