Cream coloured vellum certificate with blues Ballarat School of Mines Crest and red seal. It is a Ballarat School of Mines Certificate of Competency as a Geologist made out to William Baragwanath in 1911.
The Certificate of Competency included passing examinations in Geology, Mining geology, Mineralogy, Petrology, Mine Surveying and Chemistry.
