Historical information

The early use of the school strap is associated with Catholic boys junior boarding schools in Ireland. Some were made from two pieces of leather stitched together with a coin sewn into the striking end.

It is thought the Federation University Strap was used at the Ballarat Junior Technical School, a division of the Ballarat School of Mines.
