The coal from this open-cut mine is used to generate electricity for the State of Victoria. in 1934 two thousand miles of high tension transmission lines conveyed energy from a system of inter-linked power stations to the whole Melbourne metropolitan area, as well as to nearly 170 rural centres.

Physical description
