Lieutenant Albert Borella, 26th Battalion AIF, was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions at Villers Bretonneux, France, in March 1918.
Significance
Possibly the only self portrait of an Australian VC winner.
Physical description
Framed self portrait of Captain Albert C Borella VC MM MID in World War One (1914-1918) uniform with 'Sam Browne' belt and medals. Stained wooden frame has been covered with a protective clear acrylic sheet.
