Historical information

Adopted in 1957, production of the L1A2 bayonet began at Lithgow in 1958. The bayonet is of all metal construction and, in a departure from previous Lithgow production, is devoid of any markings.

Significance

This Bayonet is an original as would have been used by a member of the AMF.

Physical description

All metal Black SLR Bayonet, Handle is rivetted on to Blade, there are no markings of any kind in the bayonet or handle.

The L1A2 bayonet was produced by Australia and Canada (where it was designated C1). The Australian bayonet is devoid of markings.
