Children used wooden rulers, before plastic rulers were manufactured, during their lessons. Sometimes they were given away in 'showbags' at Agricultural Shows. This is why some have advertising on them.
A piece of wood measuring 12 inches (imperial) or 30 cms, marked on both side for use in different measuring activities at school.
