Pioneer settler, J.P., and Whittlesea's resident doctor, Dr. William Ronald (1808-1882) born Scotland, and Eliza O'Meara (1810-1893) born Ireland, married 1831, arrived Plenty 1842. Dr. Ronald donated the site for the Yan Yean Cemetery in 1854 and became one of the first trustees. He built his second home, "Williambrook", beside the Plenty River, located behind Kelvin Thomas' home on Plenty Road. He was poor, but well respected by the locals.
