A steel bladed wooden curved handled Shingle Splitter sometimes called a Paling Knife used for splitting or cleaving timber. It has two crossed hammer shape symbols stamped at the beginning and end of the inscription - Wolpin Wedge Mills. It was used in the late 19th century.
