Given that the photo was taken in Bendigo there are two “Salis Brothers” listed on the system, Francis and Albert. “Con” was maybe a nickname.

Albert Joseph Salis No 1887 enlisted on 13.8.1915 age 21 years 6 months in 2nd reinforcements 46th Bn, embark for Eygpt 4.4.1916, embark for Marseilles 8.6.1916, WIA 10.8.1916 GSW Chest, rejoin unit 18.3.1917, hospital with PUO 10.4.1917, rejoin unit 3.5.1917, hospital 17.7.1917 with Scabies, rejoins unit then gets Sabine’s again, rejoins unit 7.2.1918, WIA 2nd occasion 8.4.1918 GSW Left Hand, rejoin unit 23.8.1918, WIA 3rd occasion 18.9.1918 SW to foot, RTA 2.1.1919, discharged from the AIF 1.4.1919.

Physical description

Sepia tone photo oval shape set inside a large light cream coloured rectangular card. Shows a soldier standing with a crop held behind his back, studio back ground. Studio details in gold colour at bottom of card, name written in ink on rear.
