Representing the Santa Maria, one of Christopher Columbus' caravel, the beaten copper weather vane made by metalworker J. Starkie Gardner and located on the roof of the Two Temple Place (known for many years as Astor House), was damaged in 1944, restored and re-erected in 1950.
Significance
After the theft of its weathervane in March 2022, the Mission is aiming at replacing it.
