Summary
The Australian Jewish Almanac was published in Melbourne in 1937.<br/>It was the first Yiddish book published in Australia and brings together works from Yiddish writers both in Australia and from overseas. <br/>Edited by the renowned Yiddish writer Melech Ravitch (or Melekh Ravitsh) it provides a unique survey of the views and concerns of Jewish immigrants in Australia in the 1930s. The Almanac contains short fiction and non-fiction pieces including histories of Jewish communities in Australia, political commentary and translations into Yiddish of works by Australian authors. <br/>Digitisation of the Almanacs was funded by Martin Munz in honour of his parents Hirsch & Estera Munz.
