The Australian Jewish Almanac was published in Melbourne in 1937.
It was the first Yiddish book published in Australia and brings together works from Yiddish writers both in Australia and from overseas.
Edited by the renowned Yiddish writer Melech Ravitch (or Melekh Ravitsh) it provides a unique survey of the views and concerns of Jewish immigrants in Australia in the 1930s. The Almanac contains short fiction and non-fiction pieces including histories of Jewish communities in Australia, political commentary and translations into Yiddish of works by Australian authors.
Digitisation of the Almanacs was funded by Martin Munz in honour of his parents Hirsch & Estera Munz.
