A gooseneck fitting is a connection used between a ship's mast and a spar. It allows the spar to swivel to change its angle. It is a part of a ship's rigging equipment.
Significance
The gooseneck fitting is a simple version of gooseneck fittings used on sailing vessels today.
Physical description
Goose neck, metal. A hollow conical fitting with two round rings joined into the top, one each side, and an axle between them. A swivel joint is around the axle. The joint has a flat ring on each side. The metal has green tarnish on much of its surface.
