Historical information

The area of Hurstbridge was originally known as Hurst’s-bridge after the timber bridge built over the Diamond Creek near Hurst’s station in late 1881/early 1882. It was replaced by a new concrete bridge designed by Sir John Monash over the Diamond Creek near Hurst's home of 'Mia Mia' at Hurstbridge. The official opening of the new Monash bridge at Hurstbridge was held 3 November 1917.
