Domestic object - Colander, Unknown

Historical information

The word colander comes from the Latin colum, meaning sieve. Most likely the colander was born from an evolution of sieves and percolators in wicker, linen or bronze with which the wine was filtered in ancient times. The oldest specimens were made - like pots - in terracotta. This one would have been used in the kitchen to strain off liquids.
