According to Margaret Fankhauser, Wayne lived in Launders Ave on what was Upton family land in a battle axe block down behind the pine plantation. He became a paraplegic in the early 90’s He was fearless in that wheelchair, refusing an electric one he would wheel uphill all the way to the Wonga Park Village shops, but no one would want to get in his way on the way home. He would head down the hill at such a speed it was frightening. At a stage when he was living in his own one night his house started to burn but he managed to get himself out and fortunately not injured. Just after his death the North Ringwood football club posted an article in their facebook account. He was very well liked by locals who knew him always friendly and jovial.
