This obstetric bag belonged to Dr Henry St Clair Fordyce MB LLM Sydney 1896, who practised at Orange NSW.

Physical description

Leather medical bag with metal fixings and clasps. Medical bag with two compartments. The main compartment is accessible from the top of the bag, and is secured by two metal clasps and a lock. The inside of this compartment has a white canvas lining, fastened to the bag by brown press studs around the top of the bag and along the centre. A second compartment is accessible via a metal clasp and lock on one side of the bag. This compartment has a square shaped opening and is a long rectangular compartment that runs the entire length of the bag.
