Vintage horsehair pastry brushes were commonly used in the Victorian era and earlier, typically featuring a turned-wood handle and bristles from the mane or tail of a horse, or sometimes from the flanks of pigs.

Physical description

A vintage wooden handled pastry brush with a thin turned handle which has a hole at the end to hang it. The brush bristles are made from horsehair.
