Historical information
This photograph was taken as a postcard in the Rose Stereograph Company's Rose Series. It was number P. 1463 in the series, meaning it was likely taken in the 1930s or early 40s. It depicts 'West Gembrook Road' - likely now Old Gembrook Road or Belgrave-Gembrook Road - surrounded by fields on one side and small home on the other. Over 14000 Rose Series postcards were produced over the lifetime of the Company, capturing everything from major landmarks to quiet scenic roads like this. It may have been taken by Karl Visser.
Significance
The photograph depicts part of Emerald as it was in the 1930s. At the time, it was considered representative of the area, enough to be published as a postcard.
