Historical information

This speculum is somewhat similar in appearance to Auvard's speculum, with a similar weighted handle. Auvard's speculum is used for dilitation, curettage, vaginal hysterectomy, and for operating with continuous irrigation.

Physical description

Metal, single bladed speculum, with weighted handle extending downwards, perpendicular to the blade. The initials "(W.S.)" are engraved in small print at the top of the handle near the outer lip.
