Photograph, Cheese factory, Lysterfield

Physical description

Photograph of a cowshed constructed of hand-made bricks. The photo shows a large gabled building. A track leads to open double doors and on either side of these doors there is a single door. The left door is open. The right door. made of vertical timbers, is closed. The building no longer exists. The shed was on the property of William Saurin Lyster in the Lysterfield Valley off Lysterfield Rd. Lyster’s pure bred Shorthorns were milked in the shed, and the milk was piped underground to a stone cheese factory about 50 yards away.
