Physical description

Summary of an address given in St Mark's Hall, Sunshine, by Mrs Vellacott. Based on a book "The Diary of a Kitchen Maid" she found in a second-hand bookshop in London. The theme of the book was the writer's experience working in Brisbane, and later at Government House in Melbourne in 1886. Members of the former Governor's family (the Hopetoun family), when contacted, had said the book was authentic and the maid was Miss Stokes.
