The clipping is a set of photos of Melbourne's National Shilling Drive March. The first photo's caption states that the Australian Army Nurses, who had returned from active service overseas were given the position of honour at the head of the column. Other photos depict Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD), Women's Auxiliary Service (AWAS) and Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF).
On reverse of clipping is a partial article about 'a striking evidence of the way in which Australia has transformed itself into a nation at war, instead of being merely a nation involved in war.'
