Container - Paradise Hotel Cream Can, c. 1920s

Historical information

This cream can was used to store cream at the Paradise Hotel in Clematics, which could then be sent to a butter factory with the can returning to the owners. Before 1921, Clematis was named Paradise; as this can is labelled Clematis, it almost certainly came from after 1921, likely in the 1920s when Catherine O'Connor was registered as the owner and ran the hotel alongside her sisters Janet and Minnie (possibly the 'M' in "M. O'Connor"). The hotel is still operating today, having been run by the O'Connors into the 1950s and by a succession of different owners since.

Significance

This is an artifact known to originate from the highly locally significant Paradise Hotel.
