Historical information

A biography of playwright Louis Esson (1878-1943) and his wife Dr Hilda Esson, nee Bull (1866-1953), who lived in Emerald from 1910 to 1916. With Vance Palmer, also living in Emerald at the time, Louis Esson formed the Pioneer Players as an outlet for performance of plays by local writers. The author is in the Department of English, Monash University. Includes photographs taken in Emerald.
