Significance

These New Testaments belonged to Carl Axel Nobelius who founded the Nobelius Nurseries and thus was a significant local employer as well as being the proprietor of a nursery which sold trees throughout Australia as well as abroad. These bibles reflect Nobelius's migrant background.

Physical description

Box containing two copies of the New Testament: one copy in German and one copy in Swedish, boxed by Karel Bartacek. Formerly owned by C.A. Nobelius. The German translation is dated 1864, the Swedish is undated but of a similar period.
