Book - Victorian railway book, Victorian Railways Print, 1900s

Significance

The book was published after the opening of the railway line from Upper Fern Tree Gully to Gembrook in 1900. It therefore includes the profile of that line in terms of gradient and curves.

Physical description

Black rectangular book bound to resemble leather. Published by the Victorian Railways, it provides over one hundred thorough diagrams of gradients and curves on Victorian country and suburban railway lines. Probably published circa 1910 given the inclusion of the line from Upper Ferntree Gully to Gembrook which opened in 1900.
