The Charman were an early settler family in Emerald, particularly well known for running the Brookdale Guest House in the early part of the 20th century.

Significance

This Day Book, which mainly seems to have been kept by Percy Charman, is an invaluable window into farming finances and transactions on a small farm in Emerald in the first half of the 20th century and it includes the names of local businesses and persons.

Physical description

A Day Book used for farm accounts detailing income and expenditure belonging to Charman family in Emerald. Used from 1919 to 1945. 186 pages. Contains also numerous loose receipts, accounts, tax returns etc.
