Significance

This item holds both historical and social significance as it depicts a church in Emerald. It holds social significance as it shows the ways people met up and socialised, and the town's connection with religion. It also displays how a part of the town looked in the past which could be of great value to a researcher.

Physical description

Black and white rectangular photograph. The photograph depicts an intricate arched stained glass church window. In the arch portion of the window, an image of Jesus' face can be seen within the glass. The other images in the glass cannot be clearly seen. The window is set in a wood panel wall, and an altar table can be seen set below the window. In the centre of this alter table sits a cross with 4 small vases or jars lined up beside the cross (2 on either side). A lace table cloth covers the lower portion of the alter. Pews can be seen in the very foreground of the image.
