Historical information

This old wood plane was donated by Karen Alexander who is living on the old family farm at Emerald - the land was bought in 1920 by Karen's grandfather, Charles Thomas Alexander, who was a Ferntree Gully Councilor who died in the early 1940s. The property was variously used for dairy farming and cropping. This is likely a jointer plane used to flatten and straighten the surface of the wood. It is likely that the farmer would have done their own carpentry.

Old wood Plane - has a long body and wide blade set at a high angle to the body. Used in creating furniture and other wooden objects.
