Significance

These identical cards provide a window into the social and sporting life of Emerald in 1948. The Emerald Cricket Club had an Annual Presentation Ball which was held at the Emerald Hall and which included trophy presentation, home-made supper, an orchestra, and competitions for Belle of the Ball and the Circular Waltz. Proceeds were donated to the Emerald Bush Nursing Hospital. The 4/- ticket was paid for by the 'Gents'.

Physical description

Two small cards -identical except for the colour - advertising the Emerald Cricket Club's Annual Presentation Ball at the Emerald Hall 16 April 1948. One card is beige and the other a light olive colour. The beige card has 'Donated Myra Sherriff' handwritten on the back.
