Historical information

This bricklayer's trowel, along with a variety of other tools, was donated from a property in Emerald which was used for mixed farming and was owned by C Alexander (although he did not actually live there but leased it out) who bought it in 1920. WHS is a well-known British brand of gardening and hand tools.

Significance

The trowel is emblematic of the diverse skills required of a farmer of that time.
