Historical information

Spanners are a common hand tool used to loosen and tighten nuts and bolts. This spanner, along with a variety of other tools, was donated from a property in Emerald which was used for mixed farming and was owned by C Alexander (although he did not actually live there but leased it out) who bought it in 1920.

Significance

This spanner is emblematic of the diverse skills required of a farmer including the ability to repair their own farming and domestic equipment.
