Historical information

This camera was used by Geoffrey Alexander, son of local property developer, C. T. Alexander. It was probably used in the 1960s and 1970s. Geoffrey lived most of his life at Belgrave which is where his daughter Karen Alexander who donated this bag, grew up. Geoffrey Alexander was an engineer who was acclaimed for his contributions in the field that became known as stochastic hydrology. Karen has donated a range of objects, tools and equipment to the Emerald Museum.

Yashica camera J1072355 - 35-ME Film Compact Viewfinder Camera with a Yashinon lens in a 2-part brown leather case. Made in Japan. Circa 1960s. Owned by Belgrave resident, Geoffrey Alexander 1908-1975 who is notable for his outstanding contributions to the water engineering profession.
