Jock Nobelius was one of the sons of Carl Axel Nobelius who established the renowned Gembrook Nurseries.

Significance

These dinner plates are an example of tableware used by the Nobelius family in Emerald in the first part of the 20th century.

Physical description

Pair of cream-colored china plates with floral design in the centre made by Johnson Bros. Owned by Jock and Flo Nobelius. Jock was the son of renowned nurseryman Carl Axel Nobelius.

Inscriptions & markings

Back of both plates: 'OLD ENGLISH / JOHNSON BROS / MADE IN ENGLAND'
There is also a design of a crown.
