Historical information

The wagons were used for hauling wood out of the forests or for transporting
bales of wool from farms to the city. They were often pulled by a team of up to eight oxen and led by a bullocky.

Significance

The importance of these large vehicles was huge during the 1800s when they were used to carry large, heavy loads of wood, wool and household goods along mainly unmade roads and tracks. It shows the material used to build them and the skill of the maker in what was a mostly handmade process.

Physical description
