Historical information

The Rose Stereograph Company was founded by George Rose at age 19 around 1880. At the time, he produced 3D stereographs before moving onto photography in the 1920s. He photographed in Australia as well as overseas depicting some of the most important events, people and historical events of the early 20th century, as well as every day places and life in Australia.

Significance

The postcard of The Rose Series is historically and artistically significant as it is associated with renowned photographer of the late 19th and early 20th century, George Rose, who captured many landmarks, important events and people throughout Australia and the world.

Physical description

Black and white rectangular postcard printed on card. The black and white postcard depicts an Australian bullock team with around twelve cattle, in pairs of two, pulling a wagon led by one man. Another man stands to the side on the dirt road. Trees are lining the left side of the road and can be seen in the background.
