Significance

George Rose was one of the pioneers of photographic postcards in Australia. These postcards represent an early period in Emerald history where it was assessed to be of photographic interest for a wider audience.

Physical description

Four black and white postcards from the Rose Series. Two are of the Emerald township. One is of the Emerald Train Station and one is of cultivated paddocks. The Rose Series numbers are: P. 319, P. 1613, P. 1629 and P. 1630
All postcards have handwritten on the back: 'Jan 5th 1923'. The donor informed that the person who had written the dates and presumably the original owner of these postcards was a local resident Tom Currie who had been at the Monbulk High School (?as a student) during 1913 bushfires.Donated by A. M. Currie, relation of Tom Currie who was a local resident.
