Inscriptions & markings

Official Catalogue Entry:
"These buttons were harvested on a holiday circumventing Tasmania. I have often romanced that they may have come shore with Rose de Freycinet and the crew of the corvette ‘Uranie’ in 1817, as it charted the east coast, at Napoleon’s command!
Horn buttons were certainly common in the early 1800’s."
